About this course

This 5-day instructor-led course takes you from a blank drawing to producing fully annotated, print-ready 2D drawings in AutoCAD. You'll work on real architectural and engineering drawing exercises in our Windhoek training lab, with one-on-one support from an Autodesk-certified instructor throughout.

By the end of the course you'll be able to confidently set up drawings, use precision drafting tools, organise drawings with layers and blocks, and produce dimensioned, plotted output ready for client or site use.

What you'll learn

Navigate the AutoCAD interface and set up a new drawing correctly
Use precision drafting tools (object snaps, polar tracking, coordinates)
Create and edit geometry with core drawing and modify commands
Organise drawings using layers, blocks and external references
Add text, dimensions and annotations that scale correctly
Set up layouts, viewports and plot a finished drawing to PDF/print

Curriculum

Day 1 — Interface & Drawing Setup

AutoCAD workspace, drawing units, templates, navigation and precision input.

Day 2 — Drawing & Modifying

Core 2D drawing tools, object snaps, modify commands and selection techniques.

Day 3 — Layers, Blocks & Hatching

Organising drawings with layers, creating/inserting blocks, and applying hatch patterns.

Day 4 — Annotation & Dimensioning

Text styles, dimension styles, multileaders and annotative scaling.

Day 5 — Layouts & Plotting

Paper space layouts, viewports, page setup and producing print-ready output.

Prerequisites

No prior CAD experience required. Basic computer literacy (file management, mouse/keyboard use) is assumed.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 08:30 to 16:30, with a one-hour lunch break. Tea and coffee provided. Laptops with AutoCAD pre-installed are provided for the duration of the course.
